Under Pressure

Bebop-a-UNOP

As reported by WWL, the Times Picayune, and the LRA website, the Unified New Orleans Plan (UNOP) has been accepted by the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) as the official recovery plan for the city of New Orleans as of June 25, 2007. From this point the plan still need approval from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) before any federal funds are released to finance items listed in the plan. So it will still be some time before the UNOP plan receives any federal financing.

Meeting Notes from the April 10th Meeting

Attached are the meeting notes from the April 10, 2007 General Meeting at Green Middle School, I would like to credit our Secretary Linda Aubert for doing a very good and complete job creating them. The meeting notes from the June meeting will be up soon. Please note this location is a temporary spot until a designated spot can be created on the website.

What has the Army Corps done for you?

The Army Corp of Engineers has released its Risk and Reliability Report for the work that has been done on the flood protection system in New Orleans. For the Freret and Milan areas the difference in flood height appears to be 1 - 1.5 ft for a "100 year storm" (i.e. if your street had 3.5 ft of flooding during Katrina, with the hurricane protection currently in place your street would have 2 - 2.5 ft of standing water). You can see the report at this website:
