NORA NORA NORA

Wednesday, November 28th, was the first public meeting about the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority's (NORA) plans for the redevelopment and dispursal of properties acquired by the state via Road Home option. The presentation was given to a standing room only crowd in the City Council chambers. The plan presented is available on the NORA website www.noraworks.org for public review and comment. They intend to submit the plan to the state December 11th, so any comments would have to be made in short order. NORA recommited in the meeting to take the UNOP plan and neighborhood input into account when determining what to do with the properties, however some people commented that the UNOP plan and neighborhood groups should be the ultimate deciding factor. NORA is currently planning to begin distribution of properties to be redeveloped in the Late Spring / Early Summer time frame, after additional meetings with the public and meetings with the neighborhoods. They have suggested, in attempt to not flood the market, they would release about 900 properties per year to be redeveloped, for the next 9-10 years.
